Aktion Clubs of the Carolinas District of Kiwanis International

The Aktion Club of Monroe/Union County held its Charter Ceremony on Monday, Dec. 13, 2005 in the evening at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in downtown Monroe.  

The sponsoring Kiwanis Club of Monroe had 6 members in attendance.  Dinner from Ci-Ci's Pizza was served to all followed by a smorgasbord of cookies.  Jack Hatfield, Aktion Club Coordinator for the Carolinas presided over the meeting.  Peter Rieke, Asst. Aktion Club Coordinator presented the club charter.  

Twenty-six Charter Aktion Club members were presented their charter certificates and pins (some in absentia).  Aktion Club Officers were presented their officer pins.  They include: 

Benny Faulkner-President
Brian Lilley- V.P.
Lemar Underwood-Secretary
Paula Ponds-Treasurer

Sandy Nemer, Director of The Arc of Union County, Agency advisor to the Aktion Club, remarked: "This has been a long time coming.  Many have worked to make it possible.  Everyone is excited about the Aktion Club coming together finally."
